Bishops Castle Railway Coaches

The Bishop's Castle Railway was begun in 1861, planned as a line from Craven Arms to Montgomery, thus linking the Shrewsbury to Hereford line to the Oswestry to Newtown line with a branch line from Lydham to Bishop's Castle.

Problems arose almost from the start, and it only reached Bishops Castle. After being sold, going into receivership, in which state it lasted another 69 years, it  was formerly closed in 1935.

Coaches (often third hand), were acquired from various railways.
